Our Vessel

We are an owner/operator company and we love our boat. This means it doesn't work for us, we work for it. Our vessel is immaculate; It is never used for fishing (although we do support sustainable fishing). SANCTUARY is Coast Guard certified and inspected and is fully insured. We have life jackets and all required safety gear on board. There is seating avaiable both inside and outside.

Sanctuary carries up to 39 passengers plus crew. Heidi is shown in her favorite perch up top, but you'll find the bow is where adventurous passengers congregate.

Sanctuary has a comfortable cabin with upholstered seating, outside seating both covered and uncovered and one restroom. She is a favorite with folks who like a more intimate setting and to be closer to the water for experiences such as the one below, when dolphins dance on her bow.

This is where being close to the water makes such a difference. You can hear the dolphins click and pop and breathe as they surface.

Photographers enjoy the angle for working with whales since this gives you the best sense of scale.

We have conducted small weddings aboard Sanctuary and she is our primary vessel for burials at sea (scatterings). See Special Charters for more information.

Sanctuary's snack bar features great, organic, fair trade Thanksgiving Coffee Company coffee, assorted teas, cocoa, sodas, instant noodle soup, juices, waters, cookies, candies, crackers, chips and muffins.

She also has a selection of excellent beers and wines. Single use cameras and film are available as are Sanctuary Cruises caps & T-shirts.

A large compliment of free loaner jackets are aboard Sanctuary for passengers who arrive under-dressed.

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar 3208's, Sanctuary is especially fuel efficient, which means a lot to us as conservationists. She had the honor of being the first boat to utilize the new bilge pumpout system in Monterey during the opening ceremony because we have aligned ourselves so firmly on the side of protecting the ocean. Ironically, Steph keeps her engine room bilge so clean, there wasn't much oily waste for the facility to separate. But what a wonderful facility it is! As bilge water is pumped out, the oily waste is separated into a drum and recycled, while the water is returned to the bay.
